i haven’t written here in 10 months or so. what happened!?! oh. right. livejournal… you devil, you. anyway. here i am! writing a post on my one of 117 social networking accounts (give or take a few).

isn’t he just the sweetest thing? i love how he actually sleeps under the covers and with his head on the pillows. as soon as we catch him in bed he runs away because he knows it’s bad. sleeping animals are just too delicate to scold.

sometimes all it takes is 5 minutes of randomly clicking to make a pretty picture.

on one hand, i don’t want to drive a car because they are ruining or planet and our people. car accidents, carbon emissions, and even debt are taking away lives. car theft. theft to buy cars. street racing. pollution. road kill. drive by shootings! kidnappings!! jeez there are just so many negative aspects to vehicles.

but on the other hand, i am sick of not being able to get around. i ride a bike, yes, but it can only take you so far (even in the best of weather). lugging around my bedroom in a backpack just to be out of the house all day and night, or for days at a time… it kind of becomes a pain after a while. i want to travel. i want to go on a road trip down south. i want to be able to just get up and go somewhere if i want, not plan months in ahead to make sure i have a ride there and back and yadda yadda. i mean, i could travel by train or bus. i do that all the time. but they only go at set times to set places, it’s not the same as going for a late night drive.

for christmas, i got a new camera. a sony cybershot dsc-h10. unfortunately my parents do not know enough about cameras to realize that a high zoom point & shoot is not a dslr, and that sony is one of the worst brands (though the best in this price range. the canon powershot is disgusting). with the capabilities of a whopping 3200 iso, it’s inevitable this camera produces a ton of noise. no matter what settings or how still you hold it (tripod, even), there is always this gross grainy texture.

anyway, i returned it for a nikon coolpix s550. hundred bucks cheaper, better quality, and more features. no point in wasting extra money on a shitty camera, when it can go towards a canon rebel in the (hopefully) near future. but for now, a tiny plum coloured point & shoot camera is all i need.

i decided to photoshop my family’s faces onto animals and put them into a winter scene. i feel as though my dad is out of place. gorillas are the only animal out of the 5 i can’t really see being in a snowy forest. but hey maybe it’s just me. i had this along with another simillar image printed at the walmart photo centre, and i will be including it in a family gift card (along with tickets to the art gallery of ontario, and a gift certificate for the hard rock cafe). happy holidays!

the new wordpress layout is really nice, and i hope it doesn’t change again for a long time.

whoops. i haven’t been very productive the last two weeks. in fact, i haven’t done much but sleep and watch star wars over and over. i actually laid down with dallas on the couch, shared popcorn, and watched a few more movies. i just pulled an all nighter to ensure i feel wishy-washy enough to create something.

did i just burn my coffee?
yes, yes i did. it tastes of nicely roasted almonds.

i decided not to make a new cover for my book just yet! i am going to start over completely and worry about a nicer one then.

it’s up for sale now! i’m not too good at marketing – i’m just hoping for the best!

the hardest moments of my life started this past weekend after coming home from a family lunch at the mandarin to a house covered in blood. my mother made the tough decision to put my dear smokey to sleep and end her pain of dealing with a large tumour, though she seemed far too happy to go just yet. so on the afternoon of november 24th, we all held the poor girl as her heart stopped. i’ve never seen anything or anyone die in my entire life, and that it had to be my childhood sweetheart only made it worse – way worse. i still haven’t gotten over it (doubt i will) but my lax of doing basically anything this week is due to that.

i must say, the 23rd felt almost like a surreal yet vivid dream. every moment is etched into my brain. the pain of knowing what was going to happen the next afternoon and having no control over it, holding on so tight and never wanting to let go of her.. even ryan came over to spend some time with her as she layed on a towel on my desk right here. for a cat, for a living being, she really had a huge impact on people’s lives.

i’m working on making a public gallery online somewhere with a collection of her photos! i have a lot on flickr and i believe i have an album on facebook but it’s just not the same. my family wants me to get my photographs all printed and put them into a physical album, along with the ones they have from when we were kids. i can’t believe she’s been with me since i was pretty much a toddler, growing old with me. something like that i can never have again my entire life. childhood friends are always the most significant no matter what way you look at it.

i’ve been inside all day and night yet somehow my lips are dry and chapped! i drew this portrait instead of opening up my pastels because i have a bad habit of touching my nose when i am sick, and if i had pastel-y hands i bet i would sneeze a lot (and look silly). well i have work to do and food to eat so i will post more later!
